The Jim Toy Community Center Receives $5,000 Challenge Grant from MillerCoors

The Jim Toy Community Center (formerly the Washtenaw Rainbow Action Project) is engaged in an End-of-Year Appeal and is excited to announce a $10,000 donation from MillerCoors. The donation includes a $5,000 corporate sponsorship in support of OutFEST held annually in September and a $5,000 partnership grant that will allow the Jim Toy Community Center to match and double the value of donations during the month of December. In addition to helping to increase donations to the center for ongoing programs, the grant funded a Washtenaw Anti-Bullying Summit scheduled for Jan. 9.

“We have always had a special relationship with MillerCoors,” says outgoing president Barry MacDougall. “They have been an important and long-term supporter of our community center. We are pleased that MillerCoors has been able to support our mission with this much-needed grant.”

“We have exciting plans for 2011,” says incoming president Linda Lombardini. “There is tremendous momentum in the community, and this funding will allow us to move forward with our ambitious programming goals.”

The Jim Toy Community Center is a resource center that exists to provide information, education, social events, and advocacy by and for the Queer and Ally community in the Washtenaw County area.
