We provide safe space for LGBTQ groups, we work for equality, and we sponsor major community events such as Pride Picnic and Outfest. This month we are fundraising to help pay the bills!

Multi-Party LGBT Garage Saturday in Braun Court!
Sponsors: Trillium Real Estate, Jim Toy Center, and Wild Wednesdays Youth
“Gently used items” may be donated to benefit the Jim Toy Center (no tv’s or computer components). Drop off hours: Jim Toy Center 319 Braun Court, Sat May 5, 9am-5pm; Sunday, May 6, noon – 5pm. Donations also accepted during open hours at Common Language Books.

Reservation times: 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, and 11:30 AM
In Braun Courtyard (or ShAut in the event of bad weather) there will be brunch, catered by Aut Bar, and live music! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at Common Language Bookstore.

The Pride Picnic Committee is hosting a fundraiser for the 2nd Annual Washtenaw Pride Picnic at Aubree’s Pizzeria & Grill in Ypsilanti on Whittaker Road. The date is Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 5pm – 9pm. Please download the attached flyer and present it to your server. Aubree’s will donate 15% of your bill to the Washtenaw Pride Picnic.

The Jim Toy Community Center is participating in the 50th Ann Arbor Film Festival as a community partner for Out Night with Barbara Hammer, taking place Wednesday, March 28th @ 9:15pm at the Michigan Theater. If you enter this code – *AAFF50JTCC* – when buying online tickets, you will get $3 off the advance ticket price ($10 standard)! This screening in the theater’s main auditorium is likely to draw a large audience, so advanced tickets and arriving early are recommended.

Synopsis of the Program

A celebration of historic and influential LGBTQ films, featuring trailblazing filmmaker Barbara Hammer in person with her films. Tina Takemoto’s video *Looking for Jiro* (2011), Ira Sachs’ 1994 film *Lady*, *Frank’s Cock* (1993) by Mike Hoolboom and *Jerovi*, a 1965 film by José Rodriguez-Soltero will also be presented.

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the longest-running independent and experimental film festival in North America. The 50th AAFF takes place March 27th – April 1st, 2012 and presents over 200 films, videos and live media performances from more than 20 countries with dozens of U.S., N. Statussexy is the movement to address HIV in our community. Young black men ages 13-24 have the highest rates of new HIV infections, and this is happening right in our own backyard. Statussexy is a way to fight back. We’re coming together at Jim Toy on March 21 at 6pm to set a game plan.

A talented speaker from HARC will share the facts—just the facts—of HIV/AIDS.

OutFest 2012 Planning Meeting This Sunday

We will first describe the overall shape of the event, then work to create committees for various areas of responsibility. This year’s OutFest will be Saturday, September 29, just 8 months away!
